چکیده
A new 5'-nucleotidase inhibitor named nucleoticidin was produced by Pseudomonas sp. YM-3229G. It was isolated from a fermentation broth by trichloroacetic acid extraction, ethanol precipitation and Dowex 1 and DEAE-52 column chromatography. It inhibited 5'-nucleotidase activity of snake venom and rat liver membrane. It also showed antitumor activity against solid type Sarcoma 180.

Benadrostin, a new inhibitor of poly(ADP-ribose) synthetase was discovered in the fermentation broth of Streptomyces flavovirens MH499-O'F1. It was purified by chromatography followed by solvent extraction and then isolated as colorless prisms. Benadrostin has the molecular formula of C8H5NO4. It was competitive with the substrate, and the inhibition constant (Ki) was 34 microM.

It was purified by column chromatography and centrifugal partition chromatography (CPC) and then was isolated as a colorless powder. The binding of benarthin was competitive with substrate and its inhibition constant (Ki) was 1.2 x 10(-6) M.

In this paper, the taxonomy of the producing strain, fermentation, isolation and biological activities of kalimantacins are reported. Kalimantacins inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and S. epidermidis including multiple-drug resistant strains.
